What Your Lash Adhesive Wished You Knew

Adhesive is one of the critical aspects of lashing and we know that it can sometimes be a little finicky to work with.

HERE'S FOUR THINGS YOUR LASH ADHESIVE WISHED YOU KNEW:

1. SHAKE THAT LASH ADHESIVE!

Why do we shake our adhesive? The chemical makeup of you lash extension adhesive has been created with an exact recipe for maximum use and retention of lash extensions. As adhesives sit, some of the ingredients will separate. Chemicals separate due to different densities; the heavier chemicals will sit at the bottom of the bottle, while the lighter ones float to the top.

At the start of each lash appointment, it’s important to shake the adhesive for two minutes to mix the chemicals and give you the perfect ratio of ingredients in each drop. During the appointment, shake your adhesive for 30 seconds before each new drop.

Pro Tip: Place each new drop of adhesive on a fresh piece of micropore tape. Do not place new drop next to an old drop. Old adhesive will continue to give off fumes and could compromise the new drop’s functionality. In the video below, the first drop of adhesive is on micropore tape and the second is not.

2. TEMPERATURE MATTERS

From the day your adhesive ships, it’s critical to keep the adhesive out of extreme temperatures. We suggest shipping to a P.O. Box or reception desk. Your adhesive will perform best if it’s kept at room temperature. Adhesives straight out of the freezer or fridge are more solidified and resist movement. Do NOT heat the adhesive to get it to room temperature.

At Borboleta Beauty, our lash adhesives do not require refrigeration. We advise keeping adhesive in a cool, dry place in an airtight container.

3. CLEAN ADHESIVE TIP

It’s best practice to shake the adhesive right before use and to only dispense one drop of adhesive at a time. This prevents adhesive waste and keeps it fresh!

Pro Tip: Our ambassadors and educators suggest you use a cosmetic sponge or OPI lint-free wipes after each drop of adhesive. Keeps the nozzle clean and clog-free. (see the first video)

4. KEEP OUT MOISTURE

Moisture + Adhesive = Curing. Keeping extra moisture away from adhesive will make your life so much easier. Moisture assists in the curing process, this is why new drops of adhesive are needed throughout each client’s appointment.
